Did you know June 7th is National Cancer Survivors Day?
According to Cancer.org there are "nearly 14.5 million children and adults with a history of cancer were alive on January 1, 2014, in the United States". (http://www.cancer.org/acs/groups/content/@research/documents/document/acspc-042801.pdf).
WOW! That number IS something to celebrate!
National Cancer Survivors Day is intended to improve survivors lives by raising awareness of the ongoing
challenges faced by those diagnosed with cancer. Survivorship of cancer begins as early as the diagnosis of the disease and the challenges that are faced by every survivor are as varied as the patients and the cancer themselves.
Who is a survivor? Anyone living with a history of cancer, stretching
from the moment of diagnosis to life’s conclusion.
What kinds of challenges are there? Patients and survivors often deal with fear and anxiety,
nutritional challenges, treatment side effects, physical disability, as well as
financial burdens. Whether or not they live natural lifespan, survivors
may face chronic illness or other difficulties, including so-called late effects resulting from treatment.
What can you do to help? If you know someone who is battling cancer and want to help, first ask them if they want or need help of any kind. Sometimes they need time to process what kind of help they need or even if they want help. Offer services such as shopping for them, cooking for them, driving them to and from appointments to take the burden of a family member. Let them know that you are there for them if and when they need it.
Other ways to help is to get involved in local charities that raise awareness of cancer, or raises funds for cancer patients. If you need help finding a charity in your area to support please contact us and we will help you find a charity in your area.
Fore Her is a charity located in Santa Rosa Beach FL serving Walton and Okaloosa Counties in Florida. Fore Her raises funds for local breast cancer patients who are in financial need. Our primary fundraiser is our annual golf outing. The 3rd Annual Fore Her Golf Outing is scheduled for October 10, 2015 at Emerald Bay Golf Club.

Resolve to Give Local
Are you making any New Year's Resolutions? This time of year most people make promises to go to the gym, eat healthy, stop smoking, stop drinking, walk more, spend more time with family, travel more, commit to less, or just be happier throughout the new upcoming year. If you are making any resolutions, what are they? Will you be successful in keeping them?
While almost everyone makes resolutions every year, many get broken within hours, days or weeks since they require changing ingrained habits. Finding the resolution that you will not break can be overwhelming so you may decide to not make any. Maybe resolutions shouldn't only be about personal improvement. Maybe resolutions should be more doing good for others.

What if the answer or solution to a local conflict or problem was easy to help solve? What if it was something you can do?
Have you ever thought about resolving to volunteer? There are many local charities in the area you live that need help resolving a problem or need. What if you resolved this year to find a charity that interests you and you resolved to give your time to that charity?
The giving of your time does not mean you have to volunteer a specific amount of time per day, week or month. The giving of your time is giving even 2 hours per month to stuff envelopes, walk dogs, help at an event, attend an event, help with office or computer work... The needs of all charities are very diverse and help is always appreciated.
This year resolve to find a charity in your area that you have a connection with and reach out to the director or volunteer coordinator to find out what you can do to help.
During 2015 please consider supporting Fore Her, Inc. Fore Her is a local charity located in Santa Rosa Beach Florida. We raise funds for local breast cancer patients that are in financial need. Our primary fundraiser is our annual golf outing held every October, however we accept donations all year. All of the funds donated are given directly to the women battling breast cancer to use how they see fit.
As we close out 2014 and welcome 2015 we want to thank every one of our supporters. We wouldn't be able to help local women battling breast cancer without your support and encouragement. THANK YOU! We are looking forward to the new year and all it's new adventures!

The Beginning!
After my mom Jeanette Hansen and my aunt Barb Schultz each passed
away from breast cancer, family members in Michigan wanted to do
something in memory of them. Because a lot of family members enjoy
golf, they decided to hold a golf outing in 2000 to
celebrate the lives of my mom and my aunt.
My family was all too familiar with the need for additional money when women are going through treatment for breast cancer, so they decided they would start raising money through golf outings to assist local women with their financial needs. The women who received the help were able to use the money to pay for their mortgage, car, utilities, medical expenses, a well deserved vacation after recovering from treatments, or a last vacation for their families.
Fore Her, Inc. was founded in 2013 to continue the tradition of raising money for women located in Walton and Okaloosa Counties (in Florida) in honor and memory of my mom and my aunt.
This is just the beginning!! We are so happy and excited to be able to help fill a need in our area for women battling breast cancer and their families.
